Pathways Meeting Wed Jan 10 2007- Brief Report

1. Review of intersection designs for Pathways Phase I - Kevin Mcleod
	McElroy & College Hill 
		Need to coordinate with people who are widening College Hill to the bridge.   
		perhaps a share the road sign.
	McElroy & Molly Barr – Share the road signs.
	Old Taylor & Whirpool
		Bike lanes on either side of Old Taylor (with traffic ) from Hwy 6 to Whirlpool.
		Between Whirlpool & KitchenAid Ln opposing bikelanes on the same side (West) of Old Taylor
		Kitchenaid Ln (old whirlpool entrance) connects to powerline right of way
		This makes for a complicated intersection at Whirlpool drive with the northbound bike lane
		crossing over at the light.  

		After riding Old Taylor over the weekend and looking at the site,it seems preferable to me
		to keep the bike lanes on either side all the way.  Do people need a traffic light to cross 
		Old Taylor on a bike?
		
	Paving will begin in March 
	
2. Report on McElroy-College Hill intersection.
	Mike to ask Jeff Williams / Mike Halford about SunSouths bikeway plans
	- if that doesn’t work – Tim will try

3. Plan for a bike escort for Jackson Ave bridge.
	Spring Break-ish --- 

4. Nominations for League of American Bicyclists Safety Instructor training in Feb.
	OPD – Mayor RH will talk to the chief police and park commission to see if someone could

5. Report on regional trails plan to coordinate with University and County - Kate and Mike

6. Report on MDOT on phase 2 – City bike map .
	No word yet

7. Draft City Ped/Bike ordinance.
	Tim & Mayor to make a recommendation next meeting.

8  Bike Month and Bike to Work promotions in May.
	Vivian & Suzanne to work on this

9. Safe Routes to Schools Proposal.
	Due first of March
	MDoT representative and others to meet on Friday for this proposal – 10am
	School Board meeting Jan 22; Board of Alderman Feb 6
		We had a very good meeting with Cookie Leffler.  She suggests that we can budget 
		for give-aways (pedometers, water bottles) and raffle prizes (bikes)  
		- Steve and Kevin - We should talk. 

10. Meeting days - 2nd Wed (currently) or 4th Tues
		Leave it.
			Except that OPC, who we want to work with, has their meeting on the 2nd Wed.
			And some folks have church activities on Wed evening
			And next 2nd Wed is Valentines Day
	
	So I propose that the next meeting be Tues Feb 27 -
