Debate Week - Campus Bike Access
The Bad News -- University Place and Gertrude Ford Blvd will be closed to motor vehicles beginning at 5pm Sunday Sept 21 and possibly until Oct 5, for the First Presidential Debate. Approximately 2000 parking spaces will be reserved for journalists and debate activities. Check the official debate parking page for updates.
The Good News -- Affected roadways will be open to bikes and pedestrians until Thurs Sept 25. Ride a bike, save a parking spot and avoid the traffic. If you have a car registered on campus sign up for the Make Room Program and receive a meal voucher and chance to win Ford Center tickets

Road Closures
- University Place and Gertrude Ford Blvd
- Closed to motor vehicles from 5pm Sunday Sept 21 and to bicycles and pedestrians from 5pm Thurs Sept 25 until after the Debate
- University Avenue
- Closed to motor vehicles from 5pm Sunday Sept 21 and to bicycles and pedestrians from 5pm Thurs until after the Debate
- University Ave and the Circle
- Closed to motor vehicles from Wed Sep 24 until after the Debate. Bicycle and pedestrian Access allowed.
Bike Access through 5pm Thur Sept 25 will be available (some temporary delays may be expected) -- Thursday evening and the day of the debate, Friday Sept 26 the following routes are suggested
- Bike Access from the North
- Oxford Depot Trail to Washington Ave to Sorority Row
- Bike access from the South - Old Taylor Road.
- To avoid closures of University Place, get on the new paved trail under the powerline from Kitchenaid Drive to The Thacker Mtn Trail. Turn right (North) onto the packed Gravel trail and cross MS-6 on the Coliseum Dr. Bridge.
- Bike Access from the West
- Access Mall Drive and the intramural fields roadway from west Jackson near the new firestation.
